friend of all of the greats from auden through williams to burroughs & corso & all the way to bukowski. williams called him the best poet of his generation. his 10year correspondence w/williams was published as the american idiom. a book of his correspondence w/bukowski was also published. his 1974 selected poems, hotel nirvana, was nominated for a national book award. his experimental cut-up novel(written while living w/corso & ginsberg & burroughs in paris at the "beat hotel"), beat hotel, is in its 30th printing.
