we gonna pitch a wang dang doodle all night long...

koko taylor, queen of chicago blues, died june 3rd of this week. the great willie dixon discovered her & wrote "wang dang doodle" for her. nothing subtle about her voice, either the delivery or the tone. it's staight up blues hollering at its best. in the video, she looks like she just stepped out of carl franklin's devil in a blue dress & could go all saturday night long.

i had a couple of her early alligator releases way back when. they got lost in my many migrations. they didn't match her early stuff w/chess but they were still pretty damn fine.
